Our story
Don Higgins started Whitetail Master Academy to share what decades of hunting and managing land for mature bucks taught him, with proof on the wall to back it up.
Today WMA is led by Chris Jones, a hands-on land manager and owner of The Plot Advisors, with Don and a growing team of proven experts teaching inside. The goal hasn’t changed: practical, no-fluff knowledge you can take straight to your own property.
The library keeps growing with new experts, new series and live sessions where members ask their own questions.

Owner · The Plot Advisors
A lifelong outdoorsman and hands-on land manager. Through The Plot Advisors, Chris works on food plots, soil fertility, timber stand improvement, prescribed fire and the equipment that gets it done. He believes great hunting starts with understanding the whole property, from soil and food to cover, access and timber. He leads WMA today, bringing hunters, biologists, agronomists and foresters together so members learn what actually works.
Founder · Featured expert
Don shot his first whitetail in 1979 and has since killed several Boone & Crockett-caliber bucks, three of them over 200 inches. He has written hundreds of articles for every major deer hunting magazine, authored two books, founded Real World Wildlife Products and consulted on hundreds of properties. For 25 years he studied nutrition, genetics and behavior with his own research herd, and his consulting clients have taken multiple bucks over 200 inches.
Expert · Land & real estate
Raised on a small deer farm in central Illinois, Jake is a licensed real estate broker who has helped more than 100 buyers make their first land investment. He hosts The Land Podcast, with 230+ episodes on buying, financing and investing in farm and hunting land, plus a companion YouTube series documenting his own land projects. At WMA he shares land-buying and real estate content, along with his own whitetail videos.
